Smiley answers not allowed!
No longer is it possible to submit a reply of less than 10 characters - which is a shame - can we have this changed please?

Smiley answers can actually be quite annoying for other users who end up clicking through to see what the latest posting in the thread is... only to find it is nothing.

It's just a quick way of showing appreciation without getting verbose about it. Is that a bad thing?
Quicker to 'read' a smiley than a sentence that says the same thing.

It's been forum policy not to have one smiley, or one short line of text (such as "I agree") for quite some time.

No, there isn't. There is plenty of rule breaking, yes, but that does not mean the rule does not exist. It is now simply being enforced automatically.
