A pilot newsletter called UK Renewal is now out.
Welcome to this, the pilot issue of a possible new newsletter, designed to
enable those who feel strongly about their country to keep in touch with one
another. Many of those who have suggested the launch of such a journal
are members of the UK Independence Party, while others are former
members who have left...........

Nice, the shade of pink reminds me of Calpol as a child, which can't be a bad thing, I mean who didn't enjoy Calpol?

Without being negative, who is going to fund a "party" that wants to spend £45,000 just to register the party's nominated lists in the Euro elections, but won't send its MEPs to Brussels to work?
Why does anybody think that Veritas Mk II is going to work?
There are many decent active members of UKIP who would like to improve the way the party is run. There's an equal number who want to push their own obsessions, plus a similar number who want to pay their £10 and do nothing.
The ones who want to do nothing will do just that. They won't leave. They won't support a splinter group. The obsessive ones might, but that opens a whole new set of problems.
Best of luck, guys. You're going to need it.

Interesting, I didn't realise that Gerrish/Noakes had accused the UKIP leadership of being part of 'Common Purpose'. I now understand why Eddisbury Branch were suspended for having a public showing of a film/video/DVD attacking their own leadership.
If UK Renewal is to survive it mustn't be the new home of the obsessives who focus on things we can do nothing about to the exclusion of things that need doing. I am always concerned that any publication that refers back to Noakes/Gerrish (Common Purpose) or Barnby/Burgess (treason) or the Bilderbergers and other pet obsessions will lose the sane and rational thinkers amongst us. We have to stop being introspective and focussing on the conspiracy theories that make us look like swivel eyed loons, and indeed many of those who do focus in such a way are IMHO swivel eyed loons, and look to policies that will attract more than 2.5% of the population.
Generally the newsletter was informative, but I would have 'justified' the layout. It was also, at 14 pages, a little too long for a first 'taster'.
I agree that wasting money contesting elections when you have no intention of taking up the seats is pointless. It would cost a six-figure sum to fight the Euros properly and it would be money wasted if nobody took the seats. Better to take the seats and use them more effectively than we have done. For Tom Wise to be quoted, albeit when he was off the record, saying there is no job description 4 years into the session is wrong. The UKIP MEPs should have been making waves from day one about that issue. Whoever is electd gets access to lots of material that they would not normally trouble themselves to see. Using the material effectively would have been a start. The Bruges Group seems to be more on the ball then the UKIP contingent when it comes to the numbers of new laws affecting us all.
In fact UK Renewal is not entering a vacuum, but with Democracy Movement, CIB, Bruges Group and a host of other pressure groups, is just doing more of the same.

Well said, you're just about spot on, in my opinion!

Well written ,cogent ,if a little long winded .When I read it my first thought was that this would probably get Geoffrey in a lot of hot water with "the management" .
Presumably GK took the view that the dissidents in UKIP needed someone to put their fears re the future in written form and to that extent it is well done .Frankly I see little hope of any real change ,there have been many opportunities but no real action .
Geoffrey if I were you I would call it a day and hope that someone else starts a viable party more in tune with your hopes and aspirations .You never know your luck!
