It will be interesting to see if Libertas links up with the new party which Jens Bonde (ex co president of the I&D Group ) is setting up ,they both have very similar agendas and are both pan- European ,as such they will be looking to the same group of voters to support them.
JB is an old hand at European politics and the cynics amongst us might think that he has made a pretty penny out of his involvement in such politics but he has not made much impact of late in Danish or EU politics .He can however see which way the wind is blowing and he has gone off playing the national politics game and moved to a bigger dimension .

Pertina: Do you think that if Libertas may appeal to Jens Bonde (ex co president of the I&D Goup) do you think that another co president of the I&D group, may be interested?
Can't think of his name for the moment.

Yes Geoffry you may be right !
They certainly need to talk and maintain some sort of civilised dialogue, but UKIP and Libertas are looking at the EU through different eyes .I wouldn't be surprised if UKIP's leadership edged towards a softer stance on withdrawal however.
I don't like the way Ganley says he wants a strong EU ,or maybe he is just clever and doesn't want to frighten the horses.
I agree with some of the posters here ,Ganley's lot could do UKIP a lot of damage at the next EU Elections .

UKIP only exists because members and supporters want Britain's complete withdrawal from the EU. To have all laws which affect Britain to be made at Westminster and Brussels to have no say whatsoever in how Britain is run at home or abroad! Anything less is unacceptable in my eyes and every UKIPPER I know, which is a lot of people!

I hope the guy 'crashes the cash' for the EU elections - could make a big difference.

Ganley is PRO-EU , enough said . He disagrees with the EU Lisbon Treaty but all he wants is to change the direction of the EU.
UKIP's problem will be that this man will be pictured as anti-EU and will take away votes from us with the end result that the 3 other Parties will win more seats.
This is a classic establishment nasty trick ,they are running scared of the eurosceptic parties so put up a hare to attract votes away from the real cause i.e get out of the EU. Ganley doesnt worry the Europhiles as he is essentially one of them.

Ganley is pretty unusual. While he is indeed in favour of a central European government, he is also highly critical of the EU at the moment and says many of the things that UKIP does, including the fact that it is "anti-democratic".
I would suggest that he can't be far away from the realisation that the EU is unreformable, and needs to be scrapped and replaced with something a lot better, such as an improved EFTA.
He wants an elected EU president etc, but it doesn't take too much effort to see that electing EU officials, such as a president, is completely unworkable. The media simply refuse to talk about EU politicians, so it would be impossible for voters to have any real idea about politicians beyond their localised area. All we would end up with is the Eurovision voting fisaco all over again and every president would be Eastern European.
Until there is a single language and a media that covers EU affairs in as much detail as UK affairs, there is no way that Britain could play a meaningful role in a properly democratic EU.

I think Mr. Ganley is a trifle confused.
If by now he doesn't realise the EU is unreformable then he never will.
