Anti-EU groups>Invitation to London Swinton Circle Meeting on 3 September
ENGLISH UNIONIST 04:52 PM 16-08-2008
Following the tenth anniversary of the dastardly Omagh bombing on 15th August, you and any interested friends and/or relatives are warmly invited to attend the next meeting of the London Swinton Circle which will be held on Wednesday 3rd September at 7.15 for 7.30pm in the Crypt of Orange Street Congregational Church, Orange Street (behind the National Portrait Gallery), London, WC2, when the Guest Speaker will be Dr J E Hazlet Lynch (Director of West Tyrone Voice).

West Tyrone Voice is a non-party, non-sectarian, organisation committed to supporting the victims of so-called "loyalist" and republican terrorism in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Hope to see you there! If you have any queries, please do not hestiate to send me a private message.

CHRISTOPHER LUKE (aka ENGLISH UNIONIST).

Back with discomforting news about discord within the Swinton Circle, the group that inhabits the murky ground between the crazies on the far right and the outer reaches of David Cameron's Conservative party.

Many from the circle met recently in central London, the better to plot the demise of the EU and multiracial Britain. By all accounts, things didn't go well.

There was, it seems, a furore about the alleged infiltration of the meeting and of the group itself by NF/BNP types who only serve to lower the tone. Bad blood between Alan Harvey, the London chair, and Gregory Lauder-Frost, the former political secretary of the Monday Club, appeared to sour everything - reflecting what one web poster described as "scenes more redolent of a bear garden than a meeting of a respected Conservative organisation".

Harvey is accused by his detractors, we see, of being a mole for the anti-fascist group Searchlight. ("No comment" is Searchlight's reaction. So we'll have to watch him closely.) Meanwhile, enthusiasts everywhere worry that the circle may soon be excommunicated by David Cameron, just as the Monday Club was cut adrift by Iain Duncan Smith a few years ago.

"If the Swinton Circle is in self-destruct it will be entirely due to you, Alan Harvey," writes one anxious activist. He is distressed and worried about the situation but then so are we. Aren't you?

In answer to David H, I do not know if Mr Harvey intends to be in attendance but I shall be chairing the meeting and I very much hope as many folk as possible will attend to hear, at first hand, Dr Lynch's account of the IRA's terrorist campaign in the Border Counties over the past forty years.

Hazlett Lynch was born in a small mixed hamlet near Strabane in County Tyrone. He was educated at schools and colleges in Castlederg, Strabane and Londonderry, situated right on the border with the Irish Republic, and has faint recollections of the IRA's border campaign from 1956-62.

In 1971, he studied Building at Leeds Polytechnic, and graduated B.Sc. in 1975. Sensing the call of God into the Christian ministry, he studied at Queen’s University Belfast and graduated B.D. in 1978. His ministry took him to three of the worst areas in Northern Ireland and during the worst times of the terrorist campaign - North Belfast in the seventies, South Armagh in the eighties, and South Londonderry in the nineties. During this time he gained his Ph.D.

In 1977. tragedy struck his family when his youngest brother, Kenneth, an RUC officer, was murdered with two colleagues on 2nd June. During his ministry, he buried many PIRA murder victims, and attended many more funerals. A considerable number of his friends were also murdered by PIRA.

He taught for three years in Further and Higher Education, and during this time earned his postgraduate certificate and diploma in further and higher education, culminating in the degree of M.Ed. (1997), in which he researched the issue of workplace bullying and the trauma this causes.

He was a founder member of, and the first employee in, the victims' group, West Tyrone Voice, located in the border region of West Tyrone, and located in Newtownstewart. During this time, he qualified as a counsellor, and later gained his M.Phil. in Reconciliation Studies in 2006. Dr Lynch has headed up West Tyrone Voice since it formation in 1999, serving as its Director. His personal experience of terrorism and his academic achievements qualify him well for this task.

You are evading the issue. If Harvey is there most of us will not go. Either do something about it or let your group collapse.
On this occasion, though, I would' nt lower myself to enter the same building as Ulster sectarians. While we are facing the biggest barbarian invasion since the collapse of Rome these petty-minded things are fighting an internicine tribal war amongst themselves.

Don't quite know what 'Antinazi' is playing at or why the Guardian has suddenly become a respected authority in these matters, but Mr Harvey is no Searchlight mole, that's for sure.

There is some bad blood though between Alan Harvey and Arthur Kemp - now in the BNP - and I would welcome hearing from anyone who has some knowlege on this subject

I apologise in advance for this post which shows up my laziness in going back and reading your past posts on the forum.

So please could you remind myself and perhaps the forum who you consider the "us" to be and who you regard the "your group" to be. Thanks.

What can or should ENGLISH UNIONIST do about "it" whatever "it" is?

ENGLISH UNIONIST provided a very straightforward answer to the question posed by David H in my opinion. There was no issue for him to evade in my opinion.

Ken, is it your view that Hazlett Lynch is an "Ulster sectarian"?

ENGLISH UNIONIST writes far better than myself so I would never presume to respond on his behalf, I hope that is clear enough for all. In the unlikely event that I am going to be around the area of the NPG on 3rd Sept I will be pleased to attend this meeting.

Thank you for your support Independent UKIP.

I can assure Ken and others that the Committee of the London Swinton Circle have taken action against Mr Harvey to hopefully prevent him misbehaving again. Being a public forum this is not the place to detail the said action but further information is contained in the LSC Members Circular No. 69 available from Allan Robertson (Acting Chairman and Organiser of the London Swinton Circle), PO Box 29208, London, SE8 3ZU.

In any event, the London Swinton Circle is surely above any one or more individuals and I very much hope as many folk as possible will attend the meeting on 3rd September , in view of the suffering our compatriots in Ulster have suffered at the hands of our enemies over the past forty years.

1st September 2008

Dear Swinton Circle member,

As you are probably aware, a quite scurrilous attack has been made against me in the so-called London Swinton Circle Members Circular No.69, which contained many factual errors. I believe therefore that I have the full right to defend myself in this matter.

I have been a member of the Committee of the London Swinton Circle for the past four years, being elected Chairman following the resignation of Sean Pearson in January 2007. During that time I have steadfastly endeavoured to uphold the Constitution of the LSC and to advance its cause. I have, however, become increasingly concerned by the fact that no proper AGM has been held for the past couple of years, and neither were Committee members being replaced when they died or resigned. If I have made an error as Chairman then it is that I never voiced my concerns in this regard strongly enough. For the past couple of years, therefore, the LSC has been run basically by the only two remaining active members of the Committee, Mr. Allan Robertson, the Organiser, and myself. This arrangement seemed to be working very efficiently however, and as no-one raised any objections there seemed no reason change the situation.

The Constitution of the LSC states clearly under “Objects” [Clause 2(c)] “To uphold and maintain traditional Conservative & Unionist principles”, and under “Membership” [Clause 3(ii)] “Membership shall be open to: Conservative and/or Unionist minded people who declare their support for the above objectives”. These clauses in the constitution have always been interpreted as precluding all those who were not supporters of the Conservative Party or one of the Unionist parties (particularly members of extremist parties) from becoming members of the LSC or attending any LSC meetings uninvited. Indeed a special motion was passed in 1996 to include supporters of UKIP in the category of those who were entitled to LSC membership.

Shortly after I became Chairman, however, I became aware that two existing members had stated openly that they had become members of the neo-fascist British National Party, and another member invariably brought along with him a non-member who produced a periodical which was originally the house magazine of the National Front. Not only were these facts worrying in themselves, for if they were exposed in the media then it would severely damage the LSC’s close relationship with the Conservative Party, but these three individuals in question with close associations to extremist parties would frequently ask very aggressive and antagonistic questions of guest speakers, which caused the LSC as an organisation great embarrassment. I therefore raised this matter with the Organiser, Mr. Robertson, and suggested that letters be written to the three members concerned reminding them that membership of the LSC was incompatible with support for extremist organisations, and therefore asking for their resignations. Mr. Robertson - never one keen to confront problems - rejected this idea however, and proposed instead that we simply let their memberships lapse, and then not to send them any renewal reminders or further circulars. This was therefore done, and as a result the recent few LSC meetings have proved to be far more happy and successful events.

All this was to change alas at the last LSC meeting of 22nd July 2008, which was addressed by Cdr. John Muxworthy RN of the UK National Defence Association. Incredibly all three of the undesirable individuals who we thought we had got rid of turned up - completely uninvited and unwelcome. Even more worryingly, however, not only did one bring along his inevitable ex-NF-associated colleague, but another brought along a notorious extremist with known and strong BNP connections. It was surely obvious to all but the most myopic that this was part of an orchestrated plot to gate-crash and disrupt this LSC meeting - particularly as the patriotic pro-British Armed Forces sentiments of UKNDA would appear to be anathema to the neo-fascists.

As Chairman of the LSC I therefore had to act, and to act quickly. I therefore confronted the first two undesirables who I came across and told them that as they were neither invited nor welcome they must leave. I naturally presumed that the only other Committee member present, Mr. Robertson, would be right behind me in this action backing me up, but alas he simply ran away. One of those confronted then became highly aggressive and threatening, and I was physically pushed aside by another. Unbelievably, however, whilst all this was going on Mr. Robertson unilaterally started the meeting, and I was therefore faced with no alternative other than to chair proceedings with all the unsavoury elements still present. Fortunately they caused no real trouble during the meeting itself (probably because of my earlier firm confrontation with them), though one did ask Cdr.Muxworthy an antagonistic question which caused great embarrassment.

Sadly, however, even worse was to follow, for Mr. Robertson unilaterally decided to summon what he termed a “LSC Committee Investigations Panel” to “try” me for alleged “offences” at the meeting of 22nd July 2008 - as if I was somehow to blame for the problems which occurred at this event! This “Investigations Panel”, which can only really be described as a kangaroo court, evidently met on 11th August 2008, but had absolutely no constitutional validity whatsoever on the following grounds :-

1) There is no such thing as an “Investigations Panel” mentioned anywhere in the LSC Constitution.
2) According to the LSC Constitution [Clause 5(b)] “All Officers [i.e. including the Chairman] … shall be ex-officio members of all Committees and Sub-Committees.”
3) I was not notified of the sitting of this “Investigations Panel” in advance.
4) I was not given the opportunity to defend myself - contrary to all tenets of natural justice.
5) I was not even notified of what the “charges” against me were!

This kangaroo court therefore had no legal authority whatsoever, and its apparent decision to “remove” me as Chairman, merely for trying to enforce the LSC Constitution, must therefore be rejected out of hand.

The LSC is now therefore facing a crisis like never before. As the only constitutional Chairman of the organisation, and having consulted with other leading members, I have therefore decided to suspend all LSC activities until further notice. Furthermore I propose to call an Emergency General Meeting of the LSC within the next few months at which 1) An expanded LSC Constitution will be adopted, 2) A full and proper Committee will be elected, and 3) Decisions will be made regarding what disciplinary measures should be taken against those who initiated the kangaroo court of 11th August 2008.

The question before you therefore is whether you wish the LSC to become a mere appendage of the BNP - or whether like me you wish it to remain loyal to true Conservative and Unionist principles. I trust that I can rely upon your support.

Yours sincerely,

( Alan Harvey - Chairman, the London Swinton Circle )
