The Conservatives are announcing something new every day or two now. We should be doing exactly the same.

Thing is the Consevatives have gone all Lib Dem and started offering to throw cash around like there is no tommorow. Where are they goin gto get all these handouts they keep talking about.
I would rather we stayed silent than pump out all this rubbish that they won't deliver. However we have so much ammunition, we should be able to pump out multiple statements every day, without promising to spend a penny.
The very least we should be doing is pointing out the errors in the other parties statements!

I agree. On this issue, for instance, we could be pointing out that we may now have to subsidise foreign EU students as well.
There is an EU angle on almost every policy announcement that we could take.
We should, once the manifesto is released, be able to tell whether the party would be likely to support or vote against each policy announcement by the other parties, and that would provide a wealth of opportunity for media coverage.
We don't need individual commitments like the other parties, because we aren't going to be forming a government any time soon. Hence it would be far more honest to say how we would probably vote on each policy.
If people are going to vote for a UKIP MP, they will probably want to know what we would support in parliament.

AB - I think you totally underestimate the general population of the UK. There is no reason why UKIP shold not exceed the other parties( you obviosley? do not get out) . The disinchanted are waiting - who are YOU?

Surely individual commitments (from the parties) are what Manifesto's actually are? Don't they state a given position under each broad heading?
Of course the majority of the electorate need some guidance on this - an expansion of the manifesto to show voting intent forthose who won't read the manifesto or need some helpful hints(!)
The key point is to get the message across IN ANY FORM WHICH WORKS - and to do it NOW.

gimlet,
I am all for enthusiasm and optimism, but I think that you are going to be bitterly disappointed in the general election if you think that UKIP is going to overtake the other parties. We should be really pleased if we get more than one or two MPs elected.
We are currently polling at 2-5%.
