It has been suggested that Labour welcome mass immigration for the simple reason that the immigrants are more likely to vote for them (due to the benefits they get from Labour). I was told, when I was in the Tories, that they could never have 'Powellite' immigration policies because several rich asian backers would withdraw their support. Sounds like backmail to me!
