Complaints>How to make a complaint
Anthony Butcher 01:23 AM 19-02-2008
1. If you object to something in a posting, such as offensive language, then you can use the 'Report Post' function by clicking on the small warning sign icon in the bottom left of every posting. We don't promise to do anything about it, but a moderator will take a look.

2. If your complaint is more serious firstly try contacting the author of the posting and ask them to change it, explaining politely and clearly why you think that their posting is inaccurate.

3. If that doesn't resolve it, then you should send a Private Message to a moderator, again explaining in detail what the problem is. If you mention lawyers in your messages at any point, then we will refer you to our legal representatives and ignore any further communications from you. You will find us much more responsive to polite and detailed requests than rude legal threats.

When giving details of a complaint, please ensure that you include a direct link to the page in question. If you think that something is libellous, then you must present as much information to back it up as possible, and state which phrases you want investigated. Simply saying that something is libellous doesn't help us make a decision. We won't delete something just because you don't like it.

Don't bother just emailing directly or sending a Private Mail to a moderator, it will be completely ignored if you haven't followed the correct complaints procedure.

I've read it Jeff, but was unsure what to do, however, I will contact the person in private and ask that they tone it down before I complain.

Thanks for your help.

We seem to be going backwards on here, some posters in the complaints section are spending their time complaining about other posters just because they have a differing view to theirs.

To accuse a well-known author, politician and television pundit of being " a known financialbacker of the IRA" is a serious libel unless proof can be brought forth and here there is none. If Hartlepool and Jeff think my reporting this is petty or, " wimpish" in yobs language, they are too simple and unintelligent to debate with.

You're hilarious and far too serious, facts are that, politicians have always been fair game,so have authors, disc jockeys, soap stars and TV pundits as well.

What exactly is your connection to these US Republicans,I smell a rat?

Are you inviting links on Buchanan and US Republican past behaviour,I really hope not.

Can you say,or are you in deep cover on here?
