This must be the "new thinking" about the ecology of family life.

Never seems to stop, does it? You'd think by now people seeking public office would know better! Maybe there's a political suicide gene we could identify?

It always amazes me how interested people are in the sex lives of the famous, who cares! I couldn't care less what any politician or 'celeb' does in private as long as it doesn't involve children, although I did find the Mark Oaten rent boy episode a bit 'yucky' I suppose because I consider it an unnatural act!

Must have been telling systematic lies to his wife and children, so some implications for his credibility as an opinion former and aspirant cabinet minister surely (?).

I agree with kernow to the extent that I "couldn't care less what any politician or 'celeb' does in private as long as it doesn't involve children" but I also agree with eublues on the credibility point.

Cheating, lying, and deception is not the same as privacy, loyalty, and sexual fidelity. However, like Mark Oaten's wife, I would promote forgiveness over revenge.

The trouble seems to be that some people think it is their "right" to behave like this. Mistakes, yes - systemic behaviour, NO!

The Sunday Mirror is a Labour rag. It is pro-EU. It is the most pro-EU tabloid out on a Sunday (the Sunday 'People' - part of the Mirror group - is a better papper than the Sunday Miror and has actually printed fairliy eurosceptic articles from time to time).

The people that run the Sunday Mirror won't like Mr. Goldsmith - he's young, wealthy, basically eurosceptic and Tory.

They should keep out of his private life. This is an invasion if his privacy. In France, this kind of press intrusion is illegal.

It's not even a particularly exciting story - boy meets girl. So what.

Some of us remain grateful to Zak's Late relative, Sir James Goldsmith, who forced the europhile wimp Major into conceding a referendum on the hated euro - one which Blair (with enormous reluctance) claimed he would honour.

The Sunday Mirror has published this story about Zak Goldmith to divert the attention of its readers from the problems inside the discredited Labour Government. Fortunately, from what I've heard on this evening's news bulletins on the television, they have failed (with alleged derogatory comments Cherie Blair made today in Manchester about Gordon Brown dominating the media).

And that my friendsl, says it all about Zac Goldsmith and the wretched Tories. He sees the EU as some sort of success. An achievement.

No, it's actually built on lies, deceit and conning the public. None of that is positive in anyway.
