Politicians come up with this rubbish all the time. I used to work in a shop and some of the kids were really abusive because they couldn't buy cigarettes and alcohol.
If the Government want the public to act, then they shouldn't be surprised at the outcome. People will start fighting back, they will get baseball bats out and hit back (literally) at the gangs.

Yes OK Cameron..
On the Monday night of Notting Hill Carnival here in London there was gang wars on the streets, rival black gangs were kicking off at the end of my road, there was also a few more shootings that were not reported in the news, one being yep you guessed it, at the end of my road. People were running in all directions with glass bottles being thrown all over the place, just found out all this extra info today from friends and neighbours in my street, they were saying they don't think Carnival should be allowed again because this one has been the worst in memory apart from the riots of 1976. I did the sensible thing by staying at home that night although come to think of it, would have been exciting to have been out there amongst all the action, still, there's always next year. Anyone want to come? Drinks are on me.

The Notting Hill Carnival, or any type of Carnival does not appeal but then I am a quiet chap who enjoys his studies, church and his rug making so no thank you I will not be attending.
The type of incident you describe is a sad reflection on todays society. We really must work at elminating gang culture and this is not just the responisblity of government. Our society has broken down because we have allowed it to break down. Instead of promoting marraige and the family we have openly encouraged other trendy alternative lifestyles and promoted them through the benifit systmes. Political leaders have understandably responded to rises in crime but talking tough as regards sentencing but crime will continue to rise unless you look at its root causes. Imigration levels are too high but just as crucial has been this countrys fialure as regards policys concerning intergration.
You cant tackle a problem if you dont tackle its causes.
The problem can not be solved by the scare moungering far right who just frankly sound like they are hysterics.

Well I may well be but I think you will find that come election time your view of Britian, a jaundiced predgudiced view brought about by bieng sucked in by liars and hysterics will be totally regected by the British People. The reason for this is that it is throughly unpleasant.
I have read many of your posts with intrest and have seen very little contributions on our public services the economy, defence. Talk about crime is just met with silly slogans and relating everything back to imigration.
The next Election will be won or lost on these issues but you have not got a clue about them. Read my signautre, I am 36 years of age and have seen 9 General elections, everyone has been won from the centre ground of politics by Partys who produce a cohrent agenda for government, the issues you talk about are important but just taking them in isolation is no good you have to have the whole package.

Even in rural Cornwall, there have been incidents where people intervening when gangs are committing crimes/engaging in anti-social behaviour have been brutally beaten and/or murdered. Also, once you intervene, you're targeted from that day onwards (assuming you live). This is what deters people from intervening in the first place. These thugs rule our streets - the Police don't patrol sufficently and the public are generally indoors before it all kicks off - with good reason. Even here, I try not to be out past 9pm. The Police are next to useless, both with dealing with anti-social behaviour/gangs (can't prove who did what) and with dealing with incidents afterwards - they can't protect those who do come forward.
