Always a pleasure dear lady. As to why the BNP didn't stand, I'm afraid I don't know. I can only assume that this part of Great Yarmouth is very genteel, respectable and with a high number of elderly residents. I'll check the demographics of the ward and come back to you so you can digest them over your bedtime cocoa.:-)

Wow. That's probably UKIP's best by-election result in years.

Good UKIP result, but guess you were bound to get one sometime. Would of been interesting if BNP stood, anyone know if there is a group in this area?

Civility costs nothing and I was brought up by my parents to have good manners. It is now derided as being quaint and old fashioned, it may be, but far more preferable to the loutishness and rude behaviour unfortunately so prevalent today.

Taken from the BBC website for the 2005 GE results for the Great yarmouth constituency.

UKIP doubled their support here in the last GE, and came within a breath of saving their deposit. I am not that surprised too much at the result on a ward basis given that it is in a EU region that has had a UKIP MEP for the last 9 years. UKIP needs good news occassionally, like any party. It is how often it happens and to what extent that matters.
