The usual bile and lack of grace from BNP sources! Because the 'other parties' you have in mind chose to be bystanders, you can only speculate here!
In the face of discouraging and unnecessarily critical remarks from the likes of you, the EDP did what IT thought to be appropriate. All you can do now is indulge in whimsical what-might-have-been. Live with it!
Why should sensible English voters support the BNP? When they do, it is only out of desperation, and certainly not in the belief that the calibre of BNP candidates is such that any degree of confidence can safely be reposed in them!

Why should English voters support the BNP in preference to the 'We hate all Scots' English Democrats? Simple. At least the BNP has a far tougher policy on immigration and thus ensure that the white English have some sort of future in England!
I suspect many UKIP voters voted for the EDs. If UKIP had stood, the EDs would have been thrashed again as this is what normally happens when UKIP stand and you do. The EDs don't perform well when other 'minor' parties stand so this by-election was a one-off.
