'Hate mail' torment for the family of father's rights boss
Bromley Times - 'Hate mail' torment for the family of father's rights boss
23 July 2008
AN ENGLISH Democrats party member has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a hate mail campaign against the family of a former London Mayor candidate.
Steve Uncles, 44, was arrested last Sunday on suspicion of harassing the ex-wife of Fathers4Justice founder Matt O'Connor, by telephoning and messaging her at her Hayes home.
The English Democrats Party (EDP) member from Wilmington was Mr O'Connor's campaign coordinator while he stood for the party in the London Mayoral elections.
In January, the Times reported that Mr O'Connor had "promised to bring subversion to the mayoral elections" and stand for mayor with the English Democrats Party.
But the 41-year-old, who previously lived with Ms Taylor and their two sons in Rookery Road, Downe, pulled out of the election at the last minute. Mr O'Connor and Ms Taylor allege that Mr Uncles then started "a series of distressing, malicious, abusive, hateful and racially based emails, text messages and telephone calls".
Mr O'Connor said: "I had concerns about the far right influence in the party and decided I needed to distance myself from it very quickly.
"This campaign seems to be directed against my family and I don't want them involved in it. It is unnecessary and very, very unfortunate."
Mr Uncles said: "I sent an email comparing her loyalty to Matt O'Connor to Eva Brown's to Hitler. When you spend six of your weeks campaigning and put a lot of money into it and someone pulls out for no reason at all, it makes you a bit cross.
"You could either say it was tongue in cheek or you could say it was hate mail, but at the time we were seriously p***ed off with the pair of them."
Of the arrest, Mr Uncles said "I'm hardly quaking in my boots" adding that he sent emails to Ms Taylor because she often does administration for her ex-husband.
Mr O'Connor's group Fathers4Justice is known for its publicity-gaining stunts, including dressing as superheroes, and pelting Tony Blair with flour in the House of Commons.
Mr Uncles is due to return to Hampshire police on August 31.

Last time I heard, Steve Uncles was the EDs National Party Secretary. Can anyone confirm whether this is still the case?

I am indebted to the Bromley Times and chartwell for letting us see the bottom half of the photo of Mat O'Connor which was cropped on his election bumf. Can anybody hazard a guess as to what the two bottles at his left elbow contained?

I thought this was a forum or was I mistaken? Given the story was just published, there is a possibility of charges and further arrests and people said it was false, I thought it was of interest.
How silly of me to think that a debate about the actions of the Eng Dems was a legitimate cause for concern. No wonder this cause is going to the dogs if people are not prepared to put their house in order!

Well, at least you've managed to initiate this thread in the appropriate section! Took you long enough, didn't it!

I do not often support Chartwell, neither does Chartwell some times but it is a story of the EDP on the EDP section of this forum.
Also as Steve Uncles (kentishman aka keystage2) is due back with Hampshire police in 3 weeks time I would contend that it is not 'yesterdays news'.
