European Union>Anger as EU bans UK acre

You could argue NATO forced the metric system on us, in that all distances and measurements in military units have to be metric.

There is no question of the acre being in some way universally “banned”, it’s simply harmonisation of weights and measures across the EU and there’s NOTHING WRONG in doing that.

If someone wants to sell fruit in pounds and ounces there’s nothing stopping him, all that he must do is show the equivalent prices for the metric weight as well.

He is forced to show metric measurements by the state. It is yet another state invasion of liberty, it is not the state's bloody business.

More being told what to do by the EU.

They can just f*** off. I'm not letting any foreign idiots tell me how to run my life. I didn't ask to be part of the EU neither did any of my family, friends, work acquaintances. People didn't vote yes in 75 for this. They can just ****** off and the second we are given a say it is yet more reason to vote NO and overthrow this stupid poxy idea of a European Union once and for all.

Can't wait.

What do you think the cost would be of ripping up all the roundabouts, slip roads, junctions, street furniture etc and rebuilding them the other way round? Driving on the right is not a mirror image of driving on the left. Still, I suppose we should expect that sort of lunacy from a Europhile.

Sorry, but there has to be at least one common set of measurements in order for consumers to be able to compare prices effectively. It makes sense to use metric in this regard.

Exactly, I see no need to drive on the right. It's not like we're the only country in the world that drives on the left!

A lot of people aren't safe diving on the left, the side they know! Just imagine the carnage if they suddenly had to drive on the right!

My favourite quote about the side of the road to drive on is this said to some American tourists

"You drive on the right side of the road, we however drive on the correct side of the road"
