Don't cigarettes presently have some chemical added to keep them burning? I seem to recall that saltpetre was added to the paper, don't know, it's years since I heard about it so it may be rubbish.

I heard something similar in my schooldays, but doesn't saltpetre produce tar? Perhaps they have saltpetre replacement technology.

Er, who's going to enforce this? Trading Standards? Could be interesting...

If smokers are forced to take extra deep breaths to keep the ciggie going I suggest it will 2 things
Their lung capacity will increase
and they will take in more carcinogenic agents and those with a prediliction to cancer will die earlier :-)

or possibly not - saltpetre is still an additive I believe

Ahh, that makes sense.
So there are glitches resulting in inconsistant levels of saltpetre.
So some cigarettes when you light them burn up quicker, leaving you with very little cigarette left. :-)
