Those who oppose English independence feel that they have discovered the Achille's heel in the concept. That is if England becomes independent, they will have two land borders, exposing us to all sorts of problems with security, immigration etc. A Unionist must feel that countries nowaways can only be independent if they're an island. No chance Catalonia, but Corsica maybe? But I digress.

But there is one severe contradiction in their argument. For 86 years they have supported the partition of Ireland. Ireland, being an island, would have fitted their criteria perfectly for independence. But what do the Unionists do? Create a land border on the island causing all the problems they mention.

So there you have it. The Unionists have no problem with 2 States on Ireland, but have a problem more than one State on Great Britain. Ludicrous!

So kindly stop pursuing this ridiculous land border argument, otherwise the debate will be swiftly silenced with 'partition of Ireland!'

The land border between England and Scotland and England and Wales is small by global standards anyway. It would be pretty easy to police in my opinion.

Martin.Starting this thread of suggests you are on the run..I have very quickly picked up on and have spotted that there is a clear lack of thinking and Judgement in FEP.If all you were ever banging on about was independence this Independence that. when the three of you were in EDP.They are better of without you.you are obbsessed and it making you look rather silly and martin you said just a few short weeks go you were giving it two years that to me tells me you have defeat in your eyes and I dont think deep down you should be in the front line given your lack of judgement,when the going gets tough the tough gets going martin.Land borders are important this thread is a smokescreen because you are losing the DEBATE

However Unionists support Northern Ireland remaining part of the UK. Northern Ireland already shares a land border with another EU state (The Republic) so therefore, why is it ok for Ireland and Northern Ireland to share a border if the UK where to pull out of the EU, however it is not OK for England to share a land border with two EU countries, should England pull out of the UK and EU.

I think that's the crux of the argument?
