Free England Party>Free England Party to develop its anti-EU policies
Andrew Constantine 10:23 PM 28-07-2008
It is my understanding that an Independent England can be expected to be much more likely to leave the EU, than the UK.

This is partly as England is seen as the most euro-sceptic of all parts of the EU, and partly as we can expect Scotland (and Wales?) to be much more pro-EU than England.

Are there views on how an independent England would make the break?

I assume that the starting point would be that the sovereign English Parliament would pass the required legislation, and then seek to enter into exit negotiations with the EU Commission and directly with key member states.

That's an assumption on your part Andrew dependent upon how you see the route to independence!

If that route is constitutional [ie via Parliament] the composition of the Commons will need to have been radically altered first. Therefore, not only would the way be paved for a referendum on independence, but also a referendum on continued membership of the EU.

A consoling thought could be that a second referendum in an independent England could be held if the first, the UK-wide one, 'failed' to yield the desired result. The precedent has been set in Ireland for a second referendum. Indeed, it would not strictly be a second referendum, but a referendum in which voters in England needed to determine their own future as evidenced by the first unsatisfactory ballot! A 'win-win' situation if you ask me! :-)

Mr. Barnish, have you not taken my advice and gone off to try and educate yourself a bit better? You spend far too much time on here Mr. Barnish, and really should try and learn our language properly.

Tell me something, is English your first or second language?

Just shows what an idiot you really are. If the party has NO members as you claim, then what party do Richard the Lionheart, Hartlepool, Northumbrian, and Andrew Constantine belong to?

You make the claim the party has no money, and state it as FACT. Prove it Barnish. Why don't you really show me up and prove your claims Barnish?

If we have no members then how come we have regional officers across the country dealing with enquiries. In my area I'm in touch with EDP, Tory and UKIP people who are definitely thinking about converting to the FEP. Elsewhere in the country, we can expect more converts after the Pin Green by-election as well.

You mention the euro elections. Before we enter the fray in the euro elections we are going to ensure we have everything in place in readiness to fight a serious electoral battle. Remember, our party was only formed in February of this year and already has made considerable progress in building a solid infrastructure and growing membership base. We are on the march, but no commander sends his troops into a battle in which they are not fully prepared. Yet be assured when the FEP does enter the electoral battlefield whether it is in a euro or general election our party, our candidates and everyone of our activists shall be prepared.

Lessons have to be learnt from the failures of other parties fighting elections. Remember Veritas, a young party that entered a general election and got massacred. Remember the Greens, a party that gained unbelievable success in the euro elections and then never had the administration in order to deal with the increase in membership that followed. The FEP shall make neither mistake.

Thank you mod gardner for your polite response more then can be said of some of your colleagues.Who should learn something from you and apoligise for there recent four letter foul abuse and Insults. I fully agree with your comments with regard to Veritas and yes EDP if you pull some of your party colleagues into line who one must start to act like party officers then who knows but at present. I doubt given given Atkins and Northumbrian recent antics that you stand any chance of making any Inpact what so ever you seem to have your head screwed on and they must learn very quickly from you in that respect.Personally from me to you I wish you personally well as you seem very decent and have a first class attitude good luck my freind.

My four letter 'abuse' was an anagram of psis, but unfortunately the checker edits that in the same way as another word.

Anyway - let's hope your ranting on this forum will some come to an end.
