Free England Party>Pin Green by-election
Richard the Lionheart 07:13 PM 09-09-2008
Despite the inclement weather experienced in the last couple of weeks, I'm about 90% through my leaflet drop and hope to get it completed before the postal voters receive their ballot papers at the end of the week. I have seen Labour and Tory leaflets on my rounds, but yet to see any UKIP or Lib Dem material, and neither have any of my friends or neighbours in the ward. The Lib Dems never make much of an effort round here, but I really did expect UKIP to come out all guns blazing in an attempt to turn round their local election fortunes.

I've always considered it a bit odd for parties and candidates to expect votes when they don't put round a leaflet telling the voters what they stand for.

Attaboy! I shall be surprised [and disappointed] if you don't attract good support after all that well timed effort.

Better start thinking about your winner's speech, just in case! :-)

For the record, at the recent NEC meeting, there was spoken unanimity about not doing deals with other parties.

In that meeting, I made the following plea to the NEC - that they give me feedback on what I/the party could do better.

A good example of the NEC deciding policy where I am in the minority was on the subject of Cornwall. I understand where some of the Cornish are coming from on the subject of not being English and wanting independence. My NEC colleagues disagree - so I go with the flow.

I have made this reply, as I wanted to counter an impression of our having a top-down culture.

The whole spirit of the party is not about the small, efficient and honest core of officials at the centre, but is about our members and supporters setting England alight in the campaign for national independence.

Our officials will also 'walk the walk' in that we get no expenses, we put money into the party and we stand in elections wherever we can. Richard for example is standing in his second election this year.

Thanks very much for your reply Andrew.

I should Imagine that with a week of campaigning to go in the Pin Green by election that the campaigns are in full swing now.

I am pleased to see that the Pin Green by-election has at last got a mention on the FEP website.
But come on guys, what you have posted is not exactly a stiring rallying cry to the troops.
I am glad you were not writing King Henry V's speeches.

I know that in a small organisation the bulk of the work is done by a few people but the website is probably going to be the future members first introduction to the party. I have steered a few people towards the site and the common response that I get is
"I have looked a few times but nothing changes".

Please the website is your hook for the fish out there, bait it.

You are quite right to remind us - and thank you for doing so.

Regards
