Well the question for debate was how long until English Independence.I think its quite clear FEP just dont know only it seems relying on Alex salmond who it seems will do a deal after the next general election with the tories.I wouldnt build your hopes up folks for an answer from FEP.On the thread topic for debate

No debate. Why should we attempt to answer a question that can't be answered?

Tell you what, why don't you ask UKIP when we'll get a referendum on leaving the EU? They've been around for years trying to force it. Now if they can't answer that, you certainly can't expect us to answer the independence question.

Seems fair to me.

The answer to Danny's question is simple. English Independence will happen when the people of England are ready for it.
To expect the members of one of the smaller English parties to give a date seems pointless and vacuous.
As Danny says in the above quote "I think its quite clear FEP just dont know".
I would not expect any sane person to offer a date.
There are about fifty million people in England, not one of them will be able to answer Danny's question.

My answer to when will it happen is. "I don't know".
My answer to when would I like it to happen is "Today".

Anglo is quite correct IMHO, it is to the credit of the FEP that they have not predicted a date for an independent England.

With the exception of the Labour party, no party has ever risen to power in the UK within a relatively short space of time. In this day and age where the three mainstream parties are locked into power through lobbying, money politics and corruption, a breakthrough is even harder. What is needed is hard work, positive campaigning and a long term vision. As far as I can tell FEP is one of several parties with this type of thinking in place.

I think it's wrong and myopic to say there will "never" be an independent England, I think it's equally wrong to say nobody supports the policies of the FEP. most of our population are apathetic towards politics but I have no doubt that nationalistic sentiment is on the rise. Times change, and attitudes change. There was a time when it seemed ridiculous to believe that women would get the vote, for example.

As for the question posed about how it would be done if there was no referendum for one hundred years, well the answer is simple: if public attitudes and sentiment swelled enough, the government would backtrack. No party wants to risk losing power or facing major unrest. Even if the FEP did not win a majority of seats in parliament, they could affect and reflect the public mood, as UKIP have done towards the EU. (The reason this has not translated into votes for UKIP is for a number of reasons IMHO which is a separate post in itself)

So come on Danny let's give FEP a break. They are a political party engaged in peaceful politics. Why post threads that make it clear from their tone they are just seeking to antagonise? If you take an aggressive stance towards someone, they are far less likely to engage in discussion with you. It's human nature.

If you believe nobody supports the FEP, why take the time and effort out of your own life - and how does it reflect on you - to type threads attacking them and individuals within them? If you disagree with a peaceful party then debate with them intellectually or leave them in peace. Is that too much to ask?

Why not start with a clean slate? I don't represent the FEP but I can debate with you on nationalistic issues if you like.
