A simple way in which the FEP could put their own stamp on the party structure would be their areas.
FEP operational areas are:........ But how about Anglicising them a bit?
East Anglia = East Anglia
East Midlands = East Mercia
London = London
North East = Combined into
North West = Northumbria
South East = South East England
South West = Wessex
West Midlands = West Mercia
Yorkshire & Humber = Yorkshire
Although in my view the regions should be abolished and FEP should be organised on (historical) County level. Though I realise that in these early days finding about 40 County organisers would be difficult.
People will say this is backward looking. But we have one Hell of a history to look back on!

Which area would Southampton fall under? As it is sat atop the solent, it can often be classed as 'west', 'east' or 'central' depending on the method used.
I'd seriously consider putting myself forward for a regional organiser's post if I was in 'ol Blighty right now. By the time I return I'm sure they'll have all positions taken.

It's in Hants - Hants traditionally being associated with Wessex. So i'd say South West.

We too prefer not to use - or even consider using - the words 'regions' or 'areas', but we had thought when setting up the party in February that as we would want party members to stand for the EU Parliament that we should have an organisational structure to match.
We do hope to have county leaders in due course but at present we would have too many gaps (offers gratefully accepted...).
The lure of the EU parliamentary elections is of course that they are PR based and our party being so against England's membership of the EU, we think we have a fighting chance of gaining our own MEPs next June. The election of party members as MEPs would give us huge additional resources of money and infrastructure, such that the party would be much better placed to make quicker progress in winning local and parlimentary elections in England.
If we have to keep the use of regions for EU election purposes, then I too would prefer us to use historic English names, than the EU's dull names. I am hoping that the Party's NEC will consider your suggestion when we next meet.
Regards
Andrew

I agree with the above, it sounds a bit more interesting then "North West" and so on and so forth.

Will the FEP and EDP have a joint strategy for these elections?

To be fair, I doubt they'll be getting in each other's way too much next year. Although, of course, if there are any potential overlaps, they'll sort things out like grown-ups.

It had absolutly no effect on UKIP's local election progress. they won 12 MEP's in 2004 but only have about that number of councillors now, and not all of those were elected as UKIP.

The North West is Cumbria or StrathClyde not Northumbria.

Nice blog, not keen on some of "national anarchism"(mainly the racial stuff.), but still interesting.
