Free England Party>Stabbed in the back by UKIP
Richard the Lionheart 07:04 PM 01-09-2008
In April of this year, I had a visit from a UKIP representative who asked if we could reach an agreement about not standing against each other in our town in an attempt not to split the anti big three vote. He was also going to approach the EDP on the matter. This was followed up by a telephone conversation. I readily agreed to this as I thought it would be a good idea. A by-election was called in our town following the death of a local councillor in my ward. I submitted my nomination paper, and today I find that UKIP have reneged on the agreement and are putting up a candidate against me.

It is of course the choice of any party to stand where they wish, as we would do, but after making a verbal agreement not to stand against each other, I am very disappointed they have chosen to go back on their word. It has taught me that UKIP in my town cannot be trusted to keep their side of a bargain. Is this common UKIP practice?

You can't make deals with any other party, where ever they are eligible to stand in elections. The fact that they are a another party means you're in competition with them.

Your post is slightly ambiguous. You clearly spoke to the UKIP representative about the May elections in Stevenage and reached agreement - no UKIP candidate stood against you.

Did that agreement extend to future by elections?

If not, did you call him about this by election to try and reach a similar agreement?

In relation to the statement I am afraid that is the nature of politics and politicans in general thats why nobody beleives a word they say or trusts them.People going back on what they agreed etc.I doubt UKIP will lose any sleep over FEP_ not trusting them as no doubt FEP wont lose any sleep over UKIP.

Hi Richard

Sorry to hear the news.

But as we both know, the British state is morally and financially bankrupt. So we should expect any political party supporting its retention to be untrustworthy. Your experience confirms the rule well.

I propose that our party should stand in all and any elections where it wishes - and not enter into any deals with any British unionist party.

Kind regards

Andrew

They probably will. I don't doubt that they have an appalling campaigning record of late which they need to get sorted.

This is why I'll never make a good politician. I tell the truth and I'm not corrupt!

Sorry to hear UKIP let you down. Unless there is another side to the story, I will not be voting UKIP again, so if it's any consolation, it has cost them at least one vote.
