Free England Party>English nationalists to be the fourth party!
Andrew Constantine 07:50 PM 08-09-2008
I forecast that the debate in Scotland about independence should become the main political issue - in the rest of the UK - after the next general election. See the new thread on The Scotman's article of today's date.

There is a realistic chance that it will be an English nationalist party that then becomes the fourth most important party, at least in England. And I would argue that the Free England Party will beat the EDs (still pro-Union) and one or two assorted small parties.

On the key issues of the day - the future of England, our exit from the EU and the stopping of further long term immigration - the Free England Party has policies that will appeal to many voters.

We are attracting very able activists who are extremely motivated by our campaign for English independence.

With such high quality support and capabilities, we should set our sights very high.

I think it is likely we will see the emergence of one of the English parties. UKIP by definition will be defunct as Scottish and Welsh devolution becomes independence. This will mean lots of activists looking for a new political home. Many will of course join the more high profile BNP, but they too may need a name change if Britain fails to exist politically anymore!

I think therefore that the future growth area in politics has to be English Nationalism. It will be interesting to see how the Tories try to re-invent themselves as Englands Party as they surely will have to when the only MPs they have are in England.

Thanks for the above, which I largely agree with.

But I think the key English trait is that of wanting fairness, and it does seem most unfair to discriminate against someone because of the colour of their skin. This is a roundabout way of saying that while the BNP may remain a very active party of protest, it is hard to see how - and why - it should ever become respectable. I am sure many BNP supporters are perfectly lawabiding folks, but that party has had some very odd beliefs. I cannot see say, the BBC, ever giving it a chance, even if it deserved one.

I suppose the tories will some day soon decide to become the party of England. That might have some very welcome consequences, but I hate the thought of our failed, smug and discredited political elites simply re-branding themslves as English and going on to rule England.

It will be up to the English people who governs them. We have to trust and accept their decision, but I hope they choose honest, principled people of good character, and experience of life (which rules out all Tory MPs...)

Regards

Andrew

I too do not agree with discrimination based on peoples colour, but I do believe that many UKIPPERS will still migrate to the BNP if their own party collapses.

It is worrying that the Tories will have to rebrand themselves as Anglophiles, but Im sure they have all spoken plenty of anti-Englishness (or anti English nationalism) in the past. We can quote this back to them when needed!

Rightly or wrongly, the BNP are political toxic waste in many circles. If another nationalist party can make just enough of a breakthrough to make Joe Public aware they exist, that could catapult them to much greater success.
