I do not find crime rate a meaningful argument against immigration.
Crimes should be controlled. People should be afraid of committing crimes, not the police force or government policy makers afraid of people committing crimes.

I find that some people are opposed to immigration, not the effects of immigration, for instance I never heard of people suggesting encourageing birth control (which is aburd anyway) meanwhile arguing that immigration causes overpopulation.
