Nardos Mulugeta, who earned £20,000 a year at copier company Xerox, claims he was bullied by a British National Party supporter who wanted him to 'go home'.

He told a tribunal that Jeff Sarling said he was 'lucky he's working with us – his grandfather used to work as a servant'.

Mr Sarling also called a woman client a 'black whore' and branded a colleague a 'black c***', he alleged.

The 40-year-old accused Xerox of blocking him from seeing a counsellor and encouraging a 'racially discriminatory culture'.

Mr Mulugeta, who is from Ethiopia, began work at Xerox in London after being granted asylum in 2000.

In one incident, Mr Sarling wrote the word 'go' in company documents next to Mr Mulugeta's name because he wanted him to leave the country, the tribunal heard.

The printer was signed off work with depression in 2004 and, soon after his return, took an overdose when he was reprimanded for visiting a counsellor without permission.

He tried to kill himself again when he was refused a transfer request.

'Mr Sarling clearly did not like me. He did not seem to like any foreigners. He wanted them to leave and go home,' Mr Mulugeta told the employment tribunal.

The high level of damages being claimed is 'designed to act as a warning to other companies'.

Xerox denies the allegations. The hearing in Stratford, east London, continues.

Whilst there is nothing at all wrong with this man desiring equal treatment in the work place, the gall of asking for £8 million beggars belief.

My mother worked in a casualty department and suffered verbal abuse, was spat at, threatened, punched and had cigarettes stubbed out on her arm, yet never dreamed of seeking compensation.

These people must take us for absolute fools.

Mr Mulugeta works on the assumption that he'll get a percentage. 1% is £80,000. If he only gets 5% he's made a very good return on the claim. He probably hoped that Xerox would back down without a fight and give him a lot of money. If what is stated is true, then Mr Sarling is not the brightest. Campaigning for changes in the law to compel some people to return to the land of their origins remains legal, abusing unwitting individuals because they are there to be abused is pathetic.

The question here is how much of what he claims is true. Why has it taken him so long to file a complaint? Is the company he works for really as bad as he claims, bearing in mind the amount of Political Correctness companies have to endure in present day Britain. And, more to the point, does he have evidence to back up his claim.

If what he says is true, then the guy responsible should be sacked and hauled before the courts, along with the Xerox official who blocked his complaint. But if it is all a pack of lies to get some easy cash, then he should be hauled before the courts himself.

How long has this country been the first safe country one comes to when fleeing Ethiopia?
