International Politics>Russia threatens nuclear attack on Poland

In Latvia, where I was part of the 2006 election mission, the issue was high on the agenda as these people do not have a vote. The Russians in Lithuania are equal citizens.

To become a full citizen a Russian in Latvia, born and living there since the 1940 invasion, has to take a Latvian language exam (many never bothered to learn Latvian during the Soviet Era), pass a history test and sign a declaration that the 1940 annexation was unlawful. Many refuse and lose civic rights.

Russia might see this as affecting the dignity of these people, who look to Russia for protection, and might intervene on any pretext.

Latvia and Estonia are full members of NATO and the EU. An invasion of either means we enter a state of war with Russia.

Oh no, where would we go for cheap whores and beer on the Stag Night then?

The Russians ran these German colonies for fifty years and it didn't cause me any problems what so ever. Now everywhere I go I find these Baltic scabs undermining the wages of British workers and our motorways full of their trucks while the EU siphons our cash off to pay for their reconstruction. Jesus Christ the average indigenous Briton was much better off with these people as enemies than allies. Screw them all, bring back the Wall. In fact the worst mistake Britain ever made was D-day. We should have let the Russians have the whole damned lot, the Europeans deserve to be run from the Kremlin.

I'm sure you're not the first person to have those thoughts, or the last!

Yes, I'm sure the Russians would have stopped at the channel...

Was this not a result of the Soviets "Russification" policy? The Estonians are divided between Estonians and Russian Estonians whom they hate and revile as criminals etc

Well they could have opted for the uranium therapy instead I suppose.

In any case there is a distinct possibility emerging that the line demarcated in 1945 was rather more temporary than historians have been given to assume lately.

Both the German Chancellor and French President have been to see Putin since this crisis began. The Western Press has assumed that this was to put pressure on the Russians but I think its just as likely, if not more so, that they were being told the score in no uncertain terms.

After all in this conversation the "Europeans" have no leverage what so ever while the Russians have both the economic and military testes of the EU firmly in their palm.

Unless I have misread the situation is appears that the USA is collapsing as a superpower and "guarantor" of European security (i.e. the warped and perverted political and economic regime of the EU). Which will leave the EU defenseless and spineless (apart from the UK it hasn't even got any decent nuclear weapons) in front of resurgent Russia.

The day of salvation might be at hand.

Yes, and a lot of us would support Russia against the Yanks who have proved incompetant in world affairs. Not only have they destroyed every culture in the world with their cheap, dirty Americanisation theyhave waged unprovoked wars against thousands of innocent non-combatants and children in countries who were doing them no harm. The hatred across the world for yanks is great and their retribution will be brutal.
If anything cheers Muslims here it is the knowledge that English people don't like Americans. But what will Jewish people do without their protector?

I don't know that a dominant Russia would be a barrel of laughs!

What a bunch of idiots on this thread(not you John).

Let's get one thing straight - the act of these "missile defence" shields is a clear act of aggression, since it means that if America launch a sneak nuclear attack then they know Russia will be unable to retaliate.

No wonder Russia are threatening Poland - they don't want war but the Imperial U.S are pushing them, pushing them, pushing them as they've done repeatedly in the past.

If you're not worried you should be extremely worried because America are provocating a nuclear confrontation (as they did when their "would be" Nato state Georgia attacked South Ossetia)

A message to all the disinfomationalists and mainstream media following sheep on here - you should realize that by spreading your total lies about this, all you're doing is inviting us all to accept a nuclear war. Do you really want that ?

My god - "idiots" doesn't describe it. :-)

And why are you creating a new thread anyway ?

Oh just give it a rest Westcountryman.

Why are these missile "defence" bases being put into eastern Europe and why is tiny South Ossetia of such international importance ?

I don't know whether you're a mindless sheep or a misguided disinformationalist but let me assure you - you're only harming yourself by believing such rubbish.

You think you're going to escape the brunt of WWIII if it starts because you blindy support the EU ?

Let me remind you, you're not part of any "elite" so don't be a smug moron.
