International Politics>A new dawn for Zimbabwe?
angelman 09:32 PM 11-10-2008
on 15th September, I said that I thought that the "truce"/coalition would last about 2 months but hoped it would be longer. Well, sad to say that the beginning of the breakdown might be beginning as Mugabe gives the top posts to his Zanu PF buddies. Hope that things don't spiral down, especially as other countries have their attention diverted to domestic fiscal matters

things seem to be going from bad to worse, for poor Zim. The US have reconfirmed that as power sharing details have not been agreed that they will not lift sanctions. (Sanctions - who do they really affect?)

It's about time someone tells this black Hitler, that it is time that he goes away either on holiday for a long time or in a box.

Yes, it's winding down into a human catastrophe as people are now starving to death and cholera is spreading. They have been eating seeds and making thin soup from roots and leaves but this is not food and every spare random seed is gone. The farmers are gone and the ruling elite take all but are also having to share this carefully. If there is a revolt among the military then something may happen. Otherwise expect this unspeakable situation to pan out into total destruction.

As South Africa's ruling party loses the old guard to fresh blood and internal revolt there may be a weakening of resolve to stop tacitly supporting Mugabe. But this could come too late for many Zimbabweans. They need action now and no one seems interested in doing an Iraq on this particular dictator. He has no oil, you see, so they can't pretend they care. Oxfam has warned them and many Christian groups working inside Zim warned them long ago, but they are especially hard of hearing if there's no cash in it or it isn't a favour for a buddie nation. Suspicions should have been aroused when the farmers were killed and chased off but because they were white the international community turned a blind eye. Now they appear to have become comatose. They raced into Kosovo like they were harrowing Hell, but Zimbabwe hasn't stirred a single angelic hair. Amazing.

Good luck with your multicultural South Africa. Maybe now you can start preaching the same message to the UK.

That's me and my like minded buddies in the LibLabCon party who you're talking about. You know - the ones who were democratically elected with over 90% of the vote at the last election.

Guess that means that over 90% of the UK population is sick.

Yes, people who vote tribally without the faintest idea of party manifestos are indeed sick. I have to agree with you on that.
