Yes, the Democratic Alliance most certainly could rescue SA if it came to power. SA is not that far down the road. All the infrastructure still intact, all it needs is good steering and no daft discrimination plus a zero crime policy.

The Freedom Front is a party solely for Afrikaners so I am not with that lot and never have been. Most modern Afrikaners do not want a separate "Boerestaat". It's very important to know what South Africa is before reading any of those funny web sites on the subject. My Afrikaans neighbours are young, modern and their grandmother has a witch puppet hanging in the tree in the garden. Please realise that these people are not all sour old farts with God on the brain.

Charlemagne, I think this is a little unfair on the black man. I don't believe he wants to have the whiphand on anyone. I think the white man has lost his marbles, his direction, his integrity and his identity and that is why it seems as though the black man is holding a sword or a whip to his erstwhile overlord. But in reality, I don't think this is happening. I think the white man is failing his own idea of himself by succumbing to a variety of psychological aberrations.

The black man had his turn at doing this too, of course, and he too fell from grace. He too lost his identity and lost his sense of self worth and thereafter lost his way. It happens over and over throughout history.

What is important is for all people to regain their sense of self respect and stop playing games with the idea of supremacy. It is not so much about who is whipping whom as it is today about what we can do to understand ourselves and our world. Often, this means taking stock of our faults and our mistakes. I think the black man just has a wee lead on the white man in this respect at this stage as he is coming out of his period of darkness a bit sooner and drying his new wings in the sun a little earlier than his exhausted white fellow traveller.

I hope to see a comradeship and brotherhood based on mutual respect in the future, not another empire of wills.

The only way I could be proven wrong is if he's not elected. However this seems unlikely at present.
