Franco is a fascist and is generally seen as one.

I don't support the communists but the anarchists and syndicalists, the communists stabbed them in the back. Their organisations all condemned the priest killings which were done by mobs of all different sorts of people and which had marked all Spanish popular uprisings for centuries.
