Yes it loses a small part that was in Stockport MBC, and gains a little bit of the Ashton seat. As almost every seat within Manchester is labour controlled, I would work on the assumption that any boundary changes in Manchester will have no effect on the Liblabcon vote share. As an aside we are a little concerned at the rise of the BNP in our area ( we are due south of Oldham a BNP hotspot) They seem to be attracting non voters whilst leaving the core labour vote intact. No doubt they will shoot themselves in the foot, and we will capitalise upon it . Although the voting figures in 2005 do not show it, Tameside is a very poor area for the Lib dums in council elections, and in fact are expected to get a kicking this year due to:

John Whittaker stood as a paper candidate, with no party activists in the area. Since then the Tameside branch is now up and running and quite an active branch (ukip have never stood for council in Tameside) we are hoping to stand 18 of the 19 wards this year. Hopefully we will be able to build up support in this area before a general election is called, but we already have 2 PPCs for the 3 seats in the area .

I was not previously aware you were in Tameside & so good luck for the local elections. I hope you are not expecting too much from the elections & thus aren't disappointed with the results. Whilst I don't know your local area I'd've thought any results over 10% would be excellent and about 5% average overall would be encouraging for further development over future years.

No we are realists, we are not expecting to set the world alight at our first attempt. Some of our candidates are 'paper' and others will not be fully resourced. we have a list of target wards, picked to ensure maximum publicity.
We intend to build local support on a slow but sure basis. We are not defeatist, but think it very unlikely that ukips first MPs are going to come from the Manchester area. :-) I believe that an essential for ukip(or independence) is a full sheet in local elections, this will provide confidence in the electorate, and will assist in getting party broadcasts.

Their vote is the softest and if voters who normally vote for that lot realise that the Liberal Dims want the euro, the EU Constitution, more money to be given to to the greedy and corrupt EU, and that they want EU Government over these islands they'll be far less likely to vote for them - and much more likely to switch to UKIP instead. 8)

The Dim Liberals are trying hard to hide their europhile policies from voters - nothing would make the the Dim Lib eurofanatics more angry than for UKIP to bring up the issue of the EU in the wards that they are contesting. :twisted:

We will not be going soft on anybody. The libdums only stood in 5 wards last year. 2570 out of 48200 votes. This of course is one of our aims, to become the 3rd largest party in Tameside. As we also have Three highly marginal conservative seats, this is also a priority for us.
I think the news could be quite favourable in May :-)

If you count all ministers it would appear to be more than 100 - I gave up counting at that point - and I don't know if some hold more than one ministerial post.
