Labour Party General Issues>Labour's `business-friendly' Britain, the exodus begins
bornfree 09:31 AM 16-04-2008
Labour's pledge to make Britain a great place to do business is working!
As evidence of this, for the first time ever, a blue chip company is quitting Britain for tax reasons!
You might view this as evidence that Britain under Labour is not a great place to do business. Wrong! Your problem is, you aren't viewing it through your LabourVision goggles.
LabourVision goggles enable the average sane rational person to view issues from a Labour perspective. Simply pop on the goggles and you will be amazed at the transformation!
Still with our LabourVision goggles on, let's try to work out how the government will make up the shortfall from the taxes that these corporations-in-exodus paid and will no longer be paying.
I know, how about raising the basic level of income tax to 95%!
(Shire, one of Britain's biggest drug makers, has just revealed that it plans to to move its tax base offshore. It has applied to create a new holding company, which will be incorporated in Jersey and resident in Ireland for tax purposes.)
