Labour Party General Issues>For once I agree with Brown (at risk of getting flamed)
Earthling 03:46 PM 02-06-2008
Taken from my blog, but I thought I'd post it here as well.

What is all this about then? Labour MPs rebelling against the 42-day limit, well in-fact not just them, but most people, even if it is just another opportunity to kick this Prime Minister of ours once more while he is quivering on the floor.
Well, I'm afraid I have to agree with him.

Our National Security must come first, and believe me I hate the thought of a Police State as anybody. But this isn't crumbs off a sausage roll, parking on double yellow lines or stealing a pen from the Post Office. This is terrorism, and if the Police need longer to conduct thorough investigations on these people who could be plotting to blow us all up, we should give them the time.

42 days is only 2 weeks longer than 28 days, but it could mean the difference between locking up a terrorist or letting one run free.

Earthling - haven't you heard of "false flag" terrorism ?

Do you realize that in 9/11 and 7/7 the government were running exactly the same terrorist drills at exactly the same time and exact same location ?

Do you know what the odds of that are ?

The only people planning to "blow us all up" are the intelligence services...

Of course extremists so exist but in the case of e.g. the Bali bombings they are small fry compared to government-led terrorism like 9/11, Oklahoma,7/11, Madrid etc etc.

I suggest you go right now onto youtube and watch "Terrorstorm" and "Loose Change" for free - it explains it in much more depth and much more quickly than I can do (though feel free to search my posts too)

You may get a sick feeling (like I did) when I realized that I had been completely lied to by the government and the mainstream media.
But believe me, you will feel better with time - the terrorists aren't who you think they are.... (no kidding)

More fascist/authortarian **** from Brown, just like Blair before him.

Nothing will change until people wake up, smell the coffee and see the corrupt self serving system for what it really is...

We got through 30 years of the IRA blowing **** up without this need for 42 day detention. We didn't need it then, we don't need it now.

How's your cat going to cope with not being fed for 42 days?

Good point John.

And Blair said "We will not let the terrorists change our way of life" and then went out and introduced a wide range of anti-terror laws.

Maybe I would have agreed except there as too many suspicious circumstances surrounding 7/7 to make me believe it happened because of the supposed extremists.

My my, you're really putting in the hours tonight Harbinger....

I must commend you - THREE whole posts and in not one of them have you failed to use the word "loon" or added anything to the debate whatsoever.

If common sense means acting like a mindless moron and brainwashed sheep then I'll stick to being a "loon" thankyou very much.

Where did you school out of interest - Oxford or Cambridge ?

Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a loon.

You need to learn some common courtesy.

On topic: More authoritarian legislation that is allowing the terrorists to win.

Personally I don't mind Smidgey - if someone attacks me it shows they're proabably frightened by something they don't like to admit to themselves.

And in the process they expose themselves for what they really are.

That's normally a very good sign I'm doing the right thing.

Bring it on I say.
