I can see why banning the carrying of knives might be a good idea. However I bet within a week of it coming into force we will see 10 year old cub scouts on camping trips being arrested for having a swiss army knife, Army Cadets with their knives packed into bergens being arrested on their way to be picked up for exercise and butchers being arrested for having a knife in their hand too near their shop door.
Needless to say the gangs won't be charged for carrying knives because of their " 'uman rights"
Laws might be great, but not with NuLabour running the country with their countless busy body idiots.

If you banned all knives all that would happen is that the thugs would find something new to kill people with.

It would be like when the Hanovarians tried to disarm the highlanders. The Hanovarian clans gave up their weapons and the Jacobite clans kept theirs making the highland even worse for the Hanovarians.

Those generally law abiding people who carrying a weapon such as gun and knife for actual protection will stop but the criminals won't. It will make things worse.
