That's because half the public sector jobs are in the bloody Guardian. I wonder how long that newspaper would last if they lost their monoply of public sector job advertisments?
As for the Citizens income I support that. It is a good idea and would probably help to save millions each year in red tape.

The Guardian doesn't have a monopoly on public sector jobs. They are advertised in a variety of publications, and most are also advertised on the internet.

It's an interesting concept although not something often talked about in patriotic circles.

Have a read of the Guy Fawkes blog article:

All available public sector positions would be listed there free of charge, this would save hundreds of millions in advertising costs for the taxpayer and deprive the Guardian of a critical revenue stream.
It might not have a complete monopoly but I was trying to convey the fact that the state seems to enjoy chucking millions at them for public sector advertising.

Indeed but it is an idea I believe can work. I've read a fair bit about it recently and a bill for the US Congress that advocates the above.

This is of interest as well:

"The Conservative Party has promised to overhaul advertising for public sector jobs in a move that could potentially hit The Guardian newspaper. Shadow chancellor George Osborne has vowed to move all public sector job ads from newspapers to a new official website if his party comes to power after the next general election. This plan could result in newspapers, particularly The Guardian's Wednesday Society section, losing around £790m spent by local and central government on job ads each year. The dedicated public sector website would only cost an estimated £5m."

There are already several websites advertising public sector jobs. One for universities, another for the NHS, every council has its own jobs page on its website, etc.
The reason why so many public sector jobs continue to be advertised in the Guardian is because of the number of left-wing public sector bosses who believe in wasting taxpayer's money to support "their newspaper". Read the bit about a
permanent liberal-left government.
I still have doubts on whether it is really possible to ban public sector jobs from being advertised in the Guardian.

DC> Yes obviously some jbs are advertised online, however it is a true fact that the government bungs tens of millions of advertising funds to the Guardian every year.
If that got cut off it would place the Guardian in the same category as the Morning Star and other left wing SWP style newspapers.
Not bad thing in my opinion either.

I would love to see the Guardian go bankrupt but another liberal-left rag will probably take its place unless ALL newspaper and magazine advertising of public sector jobs is stopped. Local newspapers are just as bad when it comes to political bias as the Guardian as they too derive plenty of advertising revenue from the public sector.
Banning ALL newspaper and magazine advertising of public sector jobs could be detrimental to many specialist journals and they could end up closing.

The Guardian is quite a good newpapaer. You can get some decent, Murdoch-free news from it. It would be sad to see it go, we'd be left with rags like the
Daily Mail, the Times et al. It would be almost as bad as watching Fox news.
