My point too! Harry didn't answer me on why the media paints UKIP as some BNP mark2.
I think it is because the media is keen to have people to knock. Perhaps Nigel Farage could step up and explain the libertarian side a bit more?

Arden, in answer i dont know why the media like to portray UKIP as BNP clones. They obviously dont see or dont want to see the real policies. Nobody being objective could see UKIP as in any way similar to the BNP but i guess it is a good soundbite.

The media have their axes to grind. They are in no way impartial. The BBC is staffed by a bunch of trendy lefties who still believe everything they learnt on their Peace Studies 'degree' at some snotsplat polytechnic, but they tell you they are strictly impartial !
I have met people who don't know the first thing about 'Europe' but defend it passionately, and think anyone who wants to leave the EU is some sort of pro war lunatic.
Somebody once said to me'
"Ah ! But Europe is about progress."
To which I asked,
"Progress towards
what exactly ?"
And he didn't know !
I have had similar several times, people defending the EU, but cannot tell you who is president, what the commission is, what the council of ministers is, where the EU 'parliament' is based or what it does. But the EU must be good because certain politicians say it is ! So that's all right then.
So I think some of the confusion that seems to arise over the very considerable differences between UKIP and the BNP is caused by ignorance.
But I am also damn sure that some of it is done deliberately in order to put people off even listening to UKIPs message. But I am optimistic that the situation is getting better bit by bit. The boy Farage has been getting out and about on the media quite a bit lately, and I think that helps. There is no doubt in my mind that we need to get more media savvy though.
Is it just me, or does the media sometimes play up UKIP a bit to draw the publics attention away from the BNP. I think they do, and I also think that confuses the public too.
