I find the reference to "undemocratic practices" such as "vote-splitting" a bit odd. Do they mean putting up a candidate and soliciting votes? Isn't that what all parties do?
The only way to avoid vote-splitting would be to have only one candidate. Or maybe it is to have three candidates who all believe roughly the same thing. :?

Very true, Unionist, there is an
illusion of choice in mainstream politics.
Looking at it another way, the touchy-feely left of centre vote is split 3 ways- hopefully people are beginning to wake up to it.
