Liberal Democrat General Issues>Woking Lib Dems on the wind up.

Had my first edition of Woking Voice, a new rag from the Lib Dems. In Woking, the Lib Dems are the party for low tax and cutting waste. Yes this is totally against national policy, but they don't care.

The big front page picture is of Simon "I don't like gays, but am gay" Hughes, with some of stasi harrasing motorists with the new toys that Ind Soc have given them.

Same on the inside, but now we also have an old man called Minge Cambpell, playing the anti Iraq war card again. Minge says we should bring the troops home as soon as possible. I wonder when possible is in Lib Dem terms.

Then they try to hijack the bank charging band wagon. It has a Lib Dem MEP who I have never heard of, standing outside the Abbey National. I hope they got permission to do that, as I doubt the Abbey will welcome the adverse publicity. The unknown MEP states how the Lib Dems have had concerns on this for some time, but just forgot to say anything. She is happy that the unelected EU commision, including Peter Mandelson will tell us what to do on this issue though.

Then they go onto another campaign and again it is the unknown MEP who they seem to be pushing forward for some reason. This one is "scrap the wrap", which I agree with, so hurrah for that.

We are then told the Lib Dems are battling to save the NHS from closures. Again they say the money spent in Iraq would have helped, but forget to say it is a tiny amount of what is speant on the NHS.

Then finally they start on a crime campaign. After I had stopped laughing, I saw there were 5 pledges from them
1 Don't waste billions on ID cards. They don't mention that the EU wants ID cards throught the empire though.
2. Let communities close pubs and clubs that cause trouble. I 'd like to see the detail of how that works.
3. Life should mean life. There was no smiley after this, they were saying it in all seriousness.
4. Compulsary work and training in prison. Another lurch to the right on what they say nationally, what a suprise.
5. Better compensation for victims, paid for by work. So it sounds like the Lib Dems are now backing prison work, paid for by corporations! Amazing U turn, perhaps they really mean it! Shame the EU which they support in full will say it is against the prisioners human rights.

Then they have a picture of the most smug bunch of councilors you have ever seen. To think that the taxpayer has to fund this rubbish, makes me want to hurl.

I'm sure the good folk of Woking will shortly be receiving their UKIP Newspaper with comments from UKIP MEPs etc... and news of various UKIP campaigns in the locality?

Yeh- surely there was the obligatory bar chart?... to illustrate that "Labour can't win in Woking!"

They always used to do that, but just a Lib Dem, Conservative one this time.

I'm waiting for another Blue Labour "Poison Chalice" attack on me. They put out a very Lib Dem looking rag a while back (at exactly the same time the Fib Dems did). They included a card with Failings Malins on it too, which they never used to do.

It really does make you want to puke when you see what they put in their papers. How great speed cameras are, how wonderful recycling (that gets shipped to China to be dumped) is, how global warming will eat our babies and finaly how the other party has raised tax and that they won't.

How much more of this can the people take? My fear is they simply don't care, so don't realise what utter rubbish they are being fed. The leaflets and papers are probably not read by 80% of people. They probably read their Independent or Daily Mail and then go and vote for the parties they tell them to.

It makes me understand the contempt the elite have for democracy.

I have to admit I was nauseated when the LibDem paper dropped through my door a few weeks back. Full of self-congratulation and giving the impression that people actually like them. The reality is they have been a disaster in Bournemouth and I cannot forget the dirty campaign they run last time: huge headlines blaming the tories exclusively for council tax rises, and pledging to save the famous Winter Gardens concert hall. Guess what, they did a massive U-turn on the latter and enraged many of their new-found supporters in the process. They have also extended parking charges and sold off the corporation's bus company.

Yet in this latest leaflet there is not one ounce of contrition.

Hopefully they will get roasted in May.
