He does have a point. The Libby Dems are the only one of the 3 old parties that offer a referendum. Whether they would deliver on that promise, is unknown and probably never will be known.

They only want a referendum on the entire membership issue because they believe they can win it and therefore further the advancement of Britain's commitment to the European Union (which they want). That's a strategic political move, not a matter of well intended principle with the British people at heart.

I'm sure the LibDems don't support a referendum on the EU "Constititonal Treaty"?

The Lib Dems have indicated that if the Tories hold a vote in the HOC on having a referendum on this treaty they will vote with the government ensuring it gets a majority.

There's no point having "libertarian" Nick Clegg, or anybody else for that matter, as Prime Minister until the government the British people elect are the people who make the laws in the UK.

I totally agree Michael! No one can be classed as EU sceptic who wishes the Lib Dems to lead our Country. Certain MEPs from that party are openly working for the EU against their own Countries interests, so committed are they that Britain should become just a State in the United States Of Europe!
In any other era they'd have been hung for Treason!
