From the official website:
Responding to a BBC investigation showing that Government drug treatment clinics are offering extra doses of methadone or anti-depressants for clean urine samples,
Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary,
Norman Lamb MP said:
"The findings of this survey are very disturbing and raise serious questions about the role of the National Treatment Agency.
"Giving out additional drugs as rewards is entirely unethical. Medical help should be given based on need rather than reward.
"The Government needs to urgently look what has been administered to drug addicts through these treatment programmes.
"To get addicts off one drug just to become dependent on another seems to be missing the point. Are these programmes really helping users stay clean, or is it simply a box-ticking exercise?"
