Many people who support the LP also support the welfare state. I disagree with the welfare state as it encourages lost production.

I don't know that I agree with you, but if you want to abolish it you have to come up with a persuasive argument to obtain sufficient support to achieve your ends.

I would have thought that the LP was more open to persuasive argument than most political groups.

Many people support the welfare state, that is their choice. It is my personal opinion that everyone should work and not rely on the dole, but saying that there are people who find it difficult to obtain employment so it's one of those issues that has good arguments for both sides.

The LP are probably the most democratic of all Parties which is why I plan to work alongside them but many Parties also state that you cannot be a member of another political Party, something I am very much against as I think a person should be able to join as many similar groups as they choose.

The words "Liberal Party" attracts people until they read the manefesto!

I think Socialist Liberals would be a fairer description.

They are still better than the old lot though.

Not so much as one member one vote, as one member one party!

So we have the Progressive Liberal Party:-) ), the National Liberals :-), the Economic Liberal Party, and the (we are the real) Liberal Party (UKIP Lite)

We used to have in the seventies the New Liberal Party, in the eighties Liberal 88 and the Free Trade Liberal Party (both standing in parliamentary by elections), in the nineties the new Liberal Unionists:-)

So yes a rise in people appropriating the name Liberal, for micro-parties.

Only two British political parties are affiliated to the Liberal International – the Liberal Democrats and the Alliance Party.
