Longstanding Independent councillor Philip Pennington, who represents Monkleigh and Littleham on Torridge District Council, in Devon, has joined the Liberal group which now has four members.

Local Liberals are also celebrating the election of Councillor Caroline Church as Mayor of Bideford. Councillor Church is also a member of Torridge Council.

More than 30 Liberals from many parts of Devon and Cornwall have met for a buffet lunch at Silverton’s Community Hall. The lunch was hosted by the Tiverton and Honiton Liberal Association. David Morrish, who is a member of Exeter City Council, welcomed the visitors. It was agreed that meetings between Liberals in the two counties should be a regular feature and arrangements will be made for another event before the end of the year.

Members will be returning to their local associations to draw up plans for the next general election.

Great news Ryan!

It's good to hear that the moderate, non-racist Liberals are supporting the anti-EU agenda!

Good on the Liberals for working hard on a local level and aiming high at their power-bases in elections. If only the purple lot would look, learn and listen to their yellowy-orange Liberal friends.

UKIP should do a deal with this thoroughly decent minor party.
