I agree, but it is still a big hindrance, and the "debate" is always patronisingly framed (i.e. politicians, usually labour or lib dem, saying how we must all "inform the general people so they can make their own minds up"...... YARGH, and all with smarmy tone, too)

We all know (I hope) the difference between asylum, bogus asylum, immigrant, illegal immigrant.
We in this country do now want to stop genuine asylum seekers and legal immigrants. We do as the post above makes clear, need to help them and us by making it easier for them to seek refuge in the first safe country. If they fail to do so they are not asylum seekers.
We all are opposed to illegals. Much like fare dodgers, they degrade the efforts of those who have worked hard to gain residence in this country.
The left I assume, also know the difference between these groups but choose to associate these groups together when anyone calls for something to be done about illegal immigration and people who simply should not be here.
The illegal immigrants and bogus asylum seekers are being protected by people who let them hide behind legitimate immigrants and people in genuine need.
The left do not care about the subsequent associations between these two groups by the general population as the left like to associate groups.
Look how they associate the UKIP with the BNP with the increased risk of attacks by misguided thugs when they accuse anyone who questions their odious policies with the blanket accusation of racism.
The only people the left care about are themselves and their own opinions, even if they have to manipulate situations to "prove their point."

My point is, If you listen to the radio the conversation normaly goes something like:
Radio person "talking about Immigration why do you want to stop/limit the asylum seekers? "
The point is, separate it to discuss it. This morning at about 5 am they had a person from the refugee council to talk about immigration and all she wanted to talk about was the .5% of refugees that we take INTO phpbb_the country. When asked about immigrants and what they do for society she said the people of this country have got it all wrong as there are only .5% refugees taken INTO phpbb_this country. she didnt not want to concern herself about illegal immigrants.
so why ask a refugee council spokesman to discuss immigration?
