Why would "extreme patriotism" make it "cooked"? You're not Nick Griffin in this video, are you? :-) YouTube - Nick Griffin, Cook Report, 1997. The word 'extreme' is the best possible word for the definition; it is merely used to show that there a very strong form of patriotism abundant in nationalism. Not to make it sound "bad". Surely you can't be arguing with that?
Anyway; just to even it out I've got another definition from a reliable online dictionary. Enjoy:
Nationalism:
1. loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially : a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups. —Merriam-Webster
Look down the various definitione here: nationalism - definition of nationalism by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.. They all suggest a similar thing: Extreme patriotism to the extent that followers are willing to sacrifice for their nation and believe it to be superior to others.
